I'm going to need triple confirmation on any of this before I run with it.

A pretty big secret around these parts. Ryan didn't fire him when his coke episode came out, and it would have been easy to do that then. I find it hard to believe that Ryan has any animus toward Washington that would come out only now.

I just can't see the Cardinals winning tonight. I just can't. I don't see how they can overcome a loss like this.

That being said, I also thought the Cardinals would go to the WS in 2005 after the Pujols homer. Obviously, I was wrong there.

If the Rangers lose tonight, the station can send that to all the poor African and Central American people who have donated cellphones.

The 2003 and 2004 ALCS would go on the list of best WS.

I don't know how much that really matters, especially in this sport, so reliant on muscle memory. It's not like hockey or basketball or football where trying hard is such a big part of it.

I always remind myself that the Reds won Game 7 in 1975.

Leave it to Moddy to put last night into words:

"There were 108 plays in last night’s game – 46 of those occurred when the leverage index was at least 1.50. Perhaps more staggeringly, there were 18 plays where the LI was above 3.00 and 11 of those came with an LI of 4.00 or higher."

You did write that sentence, correct?

She's ranked 10th among GM candidates, according to MLB Trade Rumors.com.

Sure, I read that. But that was written almost a year before his cocaine thing came out. Ryan stood behind him when it did (indeed, he refused to accept Washington's offer to resign). Eight months later, Ryan, by then a co-owner of the team, signed Washington to a two-year extension. Ryan may indeed not be thrilled with his manager, but his actions to date aren't suggestive of that.

No surprise there. She's never going to be near the top of any of these (very studious!) lists.

Meanwhile, a horse's ass like Jim Hendry couldn't get fired for 10 years with a stick of dynamite. And so on.
