At this point, I'm always surprised Rick Hahn is so high on every one of these lists. It's odd. Baseball analysts think that Kenny Williams is a go-for-broke hothead, but Hahn, his understudy, is a calculating brainiac. Same organization.

Dick, I think Hahn would have been their guy if the Red Sox went 9-18 in September instead of 7-20.

I believe Ng cut her teeth in the White Sox organization. UChicago product.

It just struck me as really funny that MLB Network has programming on during this game tonight - "Behind the Seams: The Evolution of Pitching."

Is there a single human being on the planet who will be watching that tonight?

I don't think I can take another heartbreaker tonight.

In this day and age, a father's death in front of his son at a baseball game is nothing but more fodder for the Snark Generation to spice up an oh-so-clever rant with.

I don't disagree with that, but this guy is usually way more on than off.

And La Russa and Washington appear to have brought out the very worst in each other, as tacticians.

Fair enough. But I just get tired of this generation of writers, primarily on the Internet, whose ply in trade is to relentlessly mock, mock, mock anything and everything.

Just the quick start the Rangers needed.

Doesn't get much older school than Roger Angel. Plus, check out the link to his scorecard:

Nolan Ryan may have felt that it would be bad PR to dump a manager who copped to a drug problem and accepted responsibility for it.

This would be strictly about Washington's on-the-field performance. If he were to get canned, it wouldn't be any more shocking than when the Red Sox canned Grady Little after the 2003 ALCS.
