I just don't buy this. I buy it in football sometimes. Definitely in basketball. Definitely in hockey.

    Not baseball.

Yeah, me neither. They blew THREE saves in Game 6. They were a strike away TWICE from winning it. But the Cardinals wanted it more?

I think the "it's baseball" line is more apt.

Tony LaRussa about to win another World Series with a team that probably ranks among his 10 worst of all-time, yet he didn't win it how many times with a 100-win team?

That's what makes it so bizarre. With the consistent run of success the Cardinals have had, they probably deserve to have one or two titles. But the two specific teams that won were the worst team in the postseason each year.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking the better team lost this series.

The better team lost. The mentally tougher, more clutch and more opportunistic team won. And sometimes that's all that matters in the playoffs.

I don't think Texas was the best team in the AL either. Not that it matters.

When Cubs blew their 3-1 lead to the Marlins in the 2003 NLCS, I thought at the time no fan base deserved to watch their team lose a series in such stunning fashion. After watching the Rangers go down to St. Louis, I feel really bad for those who follow that team.

Same here. Less than 24 hours ago, they were a strike away from winning it all. And now they'll have to deal with the pain of this for a long time, that is, if they don't win it all next year.
