Actually, the Buckner play would not have won the World Series. The game was already tied. The play forced a seventh game, which the Red Sox took the lead, then gakked it up.

As soon as I saw that, I started singing to myself...."One of these things is not like the other....."

I would say that Pujols goes to the Cubs if he leaves.

I don't think the Cubs are going to do that -- I think they're committed to building via the farm system.

But I'd love to see it as it would fuck up their payroll eight ways to Sunday for the next decade.

Farm system be damned if you can piss off the folks 3 hours to the southwest something fierce.

I'm sure Ozzie Guillen would love the Marlins to sign Pujols.

But since they're the Tea Party of MLB, good luck with that.

Either I didn't write it well, or you misread my post. We're saying the same thing. When I say "That play would have won the WS," I'm referring to Cruz's non-catch. I'm contrasting it with the Buckner thing. It's much worse.

I hope they do. And I hope it cripples the franchise.

See, I'm not so sure the Marlins won't be a player for at least one big name free agent (i.e. Pujols or Fielder).

New ballpark in the middle of Miami and new team name/identity, with no real marketable name on the roster. I see them making some sort of FA splash.

It would be interesting to see how well they do. Let's see they do sign Fielder (Who went to college at The U, by the way).......they still have to draw more than 8,000 per game.

Keep in mind.....even with Guillen, even with a new stadium, even with new players.....you are still talking about the Marlins.

Absolutely. That ball hit at the bottom of the wall. He not only drifted back slowly instead of getting back quickly, he then proceeded to alligator-arm it. He was clearly not up for the big moment.

Braun went to The U. Fielder was drafted and signed out of high school.

He's already been a vegetarian for years and is still fat.
