Hasn't VT had to eat a shitload of tickets the last couple times they played in the Orange Bowl? I remember reading that last year. Did they sell their share of tickets for previous Sugar Bowl trips?

BC is reasonably large for a private school. Its problem is that it's the only FBS team in town, which you'd think would be an advantage, but actually means that fans who went to other schools (who outnumber BC fans) have a built-in dislike of rooting for BC, or actually root against 'em. When football fans feel like traveling, they go to Pats games.

If BC fans don't care about the ACC, why the hell were school officials hot to get into the league? Are you trying to say they didn't do a good of feeling out the fan and alumni base to gauge their sentiment before plunging in there?
And they get crappy bowls with 8-4 and 9-3 records because the fans don't buy the damn tickets. This is not a chicken or egg things. It's up to the fan base to prove they deserve to not get dropped like a rock from the Chick-Fil-A or Gator (under the old conference alignment) to Music City or Hawaii.

Not sure. But I know a lot of my old college friends who had no intentions of making another trip to the Orange suddenly are scurrying to get tix for the Sugar.

Stuff like this is what always works against schools like Miami, BC, Pitt and even USC's reputation for traveling is sucky. These schools just don't have the following because they don't have the enrollment numbers as the big land grant schools. Pitt's main campus enrollment is about 16,000 while PSU has about 45,000 in State College alone.

My son and his buds decided the ACC title game was their last trip of the year - they've been to the Orange and Chick-fil-A bowls recently, would throw a party and watch on TV.

Now they're trying to figure out the descent on NO.

    As is his mother.

So you are saying that BC fans are like Jaguars fans?

because Gene DeFillippo and crew knew the Big East was a sinking ship with Miami and Virginia Tech leaving. Its the same reason Pitt and Syracuse are running like their hair's on fire out of that clusterfuck. It's not a matter of what the fanbase likes/wants. It's a matter of "do we join a league certain to be financially stable for the next 20 years or do we remain committed to this basketball-obsessed piece of shit that simply doesn't get it when it comes to football?"

Your BC's AD and your options are The ACC or the Fat East. Whereyawannago?

    Chris Peterson is PISSED:

“The whole thing needs to be changed, there’s no question about it,” he said. “… I think (change) is coming, I really do.”

“Everybody is just very tired of the BCS,” Petersen said. “I think that’s the bottom line. Everybody is frustrated. Everybody doesn’t really know what to do anymore. It doesn’t make sense to anybody. I don’t think anybody is happy anywhere.”

“Why are we even voting if they’re all left out of games like that?” he said. “It doesn’t make any sense. … I don’t know who it makes sense to. I haven’t heard anybody say, ‘This is pretty good.’ Everybody goes, ‘This is really bad.’ ”

Petersen’s suggestion: use a committee like the men’s basketball tournament to rank the teams, trim some of the bowls and implement a “plus-one” system that gives the top four teams a shot at the national title.

“That’s still subjective, but at least it’s closer,” he said.

In the past, Petersen has chosen not to slam the BCS for his team getting snubbed.

“It just seems like each year it’s getting further and further away from anybody understanding what’s going on,” he said.

Now that's just dumb on your part. Jaguars are 26th in attendance in the NFL right now, haven't had a blackout since 2009 and average more than 62,000 tickets sold per game. You want to make an argument for BC, fine. Don't make a stupid one.
