    Cranium, you're better than this.

That Tech-BC title game in Jacksonville drew a decent crowd of Tech fans, 25-30K, I believe. Jacksonville is a nine-hour drive from Blacksburg. No one was at the game because BC doesn't travel and there is no local interest in ACC football in Jacksonville. Stupid place to hold the game. As was Tampa. It's been a hit in Charlotte.

You're comparing that to a Georgia-Florida regular season game that's a yearly institution in the SEC footprint that's also within a reasonable drive for both teams? Ridiculous. You can kill Tech fans for not scooping up Sugar Bowl tix in a shitty economy. But let's at least try to compare apples to apples here.

The Virginia Tech athletic department, apparently.

One of the few semi-sane arguments about why VT was in that game was "travel well". The numbers bear out that they actually "travel 'ight" or "travel a bit less than average." That's the point. VT fans clearly aren't buying from the school and they clearly aren't overwhelming the secondary market.

Or travel far. The hike from Blacksburg to Charlotte or Atlanta then New Orleans and Miami is more than their SEC counterparts.

And where are the Sugar and Orange Bowls?

Which BCS bowl is in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky or North Carolina? I would love to go.

The Fiesta Bowl cannot get here fast enough.

    Points and yards galore.

Would you like to compare mileage from Blacksburg to Miami vs. Tuscaloosa to L.A.? or Auburn to Glendale?

Please tell me which SEC school has packed the Rose Bowl?

I'm sure they would, given the chance. Just as fans from Pac-10/12 schools pack the Fiesta and Rose Bowls, which are within reasonable driving distance for 8 of the 12 teams.

I always though the Rose Bowl was in Pasadena. At least it was the last time I covered a game there. My bad.
