    It makes me laugh when I see fans bitching about getting "screwed" by getting passed over by the #7 bowl pick in their conference and they go to the #8 bowl. Weren't Mizzou fans bitching about not getting to go to the Insight Bowl a couple years ago?

    So Michigan gets to play in a BCS bowl even though it lost to Michigan State and never played Wisconsin (the Big Ten's two best teams), and they get to play Va Tech who just lost by 28?

    Oh, OK.

    The extra $17 million that the ACC and Big Ten each get, at the expense of the Mountain West, is the kind of thing that could get the ball rolling on the antitrust case.

    Mississippi State has announced it's accepted an invite to the Music City Bowl.
    C-USA champion Southern Miss is heading to the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl for some strange reason.

    Stop it. Explain this logic to me.

    Houston was 6, and dropped to 20, losing by 21.

    Tech was 5, and dropped to whatever......losing by 28.

    They don't get an extra $17 million. It's something much, much lower.

    Missouri was fifth in the Big 12. It should have gotten the fifth-best bowl bid (the Holiday, I think) the conference had available. That would be the case with anyone.

    Well, no worse than 14, which is the cutting-off point.

    And No. 5 goes to ... Poinsetta? Las Vegas?

    Yeah, if ever the fix was in for the "big boys," this is it.

    No, it doesn't work like that and doesn't work like that in any conference.

    Don't shoot the messenger. I'm getting all the info from Mandel and Wetzel on the Twitter. Some interesting tweets in last 15 minutes:

    @Stewart Mandel
    It certainly didn't help Boise to have Craig Thompson lobbying them for a bowl. The one commish who's openly pro-playoff/anti-bowl.

    @Stewart Mandel
    Based on projected BCS standings, Sugar passed on 2 top 10 teams (Boise and KState) to pit Nos. 11 and 12. But the stands will be full.

    Ah, i am confused. Weren't they quoting $17M as what Houston and C-USA lost? Or does a second team bring in less?

    Sounds like $17M might still be what the MWC loses?

    Once you get beyond the championship game and whatever automatic tie-ins there are, the BCS bowls are free to choose who they want as long as they are eligible. And they're going to choose the teams that will attract the most ticket sales, TV ratings, sponsorship money, etc. that they can.

    It sucks, but college football is a business.
