I may be a little late on this but I thought there was way too much sentimental gushing over Joe Paterno by the broadcasters in the Ticket City Bowl.

Please tell me that Matt Millen is not doing anymore games for the year. Listening to him last night for 3 hours was just a mind bending experience.

He gets worse and worse, and each sinecure gets more and more comfortable.

Keep the radio off tonight. McDonough and Millen are on the mic for the Sugar Bowl.

Since the official ruled it a touchdown, the game - at that point - was over. You can't go back and then penalize the player after replay overturns the call.

Wow, Andrew Luck really IS the next Peyton Manning.

    Returns for his senior season.
Doesn't win the Hypesman as a result of intense lobbying for a left-field candidate by ESPN in the last week.
    Doesn't win the league title.
    Doesn't win his bowl game.

Now the question remains, does Stanford have a Tee Martin on their roster for next year?

I knew Sean was on radio tonight, but I didn't think Millen was with him on radio.

I'm not so sure a bunch of them didn't.

Taylor Martinez is not a quarterback. He's a sprinter who merely occupies the quarterback's position. For all his straight-line speed, he doesn't even pretend to have enough lateral mobility to make people miss. If he doesn't beat the defense to the edge, he curls up into a ball and tries not to get hurt -- which is probably exactly what he's been coached to do.

Nine, maybe 10 wins a year is the best Nebraska is going to do under Pelini. He's shown time and again that he'd rather have more experienced players on the field than find a way to get his best talent on the field -- the guys who actually make the plays that separate above-average teams from regular BCS participants. Then there's the problem of discipline, which should drive home the old adage about teams taking on the character of their head coach. Nebraska under Pelini consistently comes up small on the big occasions, and I see no reason to think that will change even after Martinez matriculates his way off the roster.

And that's just the point. With review, the game isn't necessarily over on the "final play," as was demonstrated last night. So, how you officiate that play must be changed as well. Officiate through the end of the final play, just as you do on every other play, so there are provisions for administering dead-balls fouls, such as occured last night following the non-TD.

And coaches should be able to challenge for an uncalled facemask penalty. The Vkings lost a very good chance to win a game this year againstg the Lions when a blatent facemask infraction against QB Joe Webb wasn't called on the last play of the games.

I think I wrote this last night - but does anyone really think that tonight's BCS game or tomorrow's BCS game has any prayer of living up to what we witnessed in the Rose and Fiesta Bowls?

Those were two fantastic games played at a very high level.

Well, Peyton did win the league title (30-29 over Auburn in 1997 SECGC). :D
