Clay Travis is on a Twitter Tirade about the kicker false-starting. Must have had Virginia Tech straight-up.

I know Michigan was 11-2 and won a BCS game but pardon me if I am not sold on the Brady Hoke era just yet. For one thing, they beat nobody, they took advantage of a very down Big Ten, especially at the top and they got to play one of the worst BCS opponents in the history of the BCS.

I know it is a nice story, I know it is much better than Rodriguez era but this team really feels kind of phony and with Urban Meyer at OSU and PSU getting set to move forward, I will be interested to see if he ever takes Michigan back to the top or if this is a one-year wonder, in the same way Weis's early success at Notre Dame was fiction.

    Time will obviously tell.

And Frank Beamer has one at least one BCS game and five ACC title games, so yes, he has won a few big games.

The OT TD catch hit the ground on the view they showed from behind. It was more blatant than the INT they negated by a VT defender earlier.

As for Hoke, I think you've got to like that he went and hired a staff, especially defensively, that got this group to 11-2. And they will end up with a top 10 (probably top 5 recruiting class) for his first full freshmen group.

Next year they will be lucky to win nine games counting whatever bowl they are in when half your schedule is Alabama, Air Force and Notre Dame before Big 10 games against Michigan State, Nebraska and Ohio State.

Did they really? It looked pretty evenly split and packed, lots of VT and Mich fans.

I thought Mile was being sarcastic. This was the third smallest Sugar Bowl crowd ever, if reports I read last night were correct.

As noted here, maybe Facebook, Michigan doesn't travel well, its just so Michiganers have fled that you have Wolverines fans everywhere.

Maybe its just because I'm paying more attention but it seems like an extremly high number of big/bowl games this season have been decided by a lack of kicking down the stretch.

Boise's kicker has cost his school roughly $35 million in bowl payouts.

You keep hearing, or at least I have, with the rise of soccer's popularity, it will make for better kickers. Sure doesn't seem like it.

Jay, there are so many mismatches in college football the BCS bowl-level teams' kickers just don't get the experience they need at clutch kicks. So they choke when those occasions do come up. Kicking is like putting. You can practice all you want, but when it's for the game/Open, it's not the same activity at all.

No, no, no, no, no! It's amazing so many people still have so many misconceptions about bowl payouts.

In a show of friendship Iowa has offered to cede its western tier of counties to Nebraska in an effort to raise the collective IQs of both states.

Beamer Ball! Lunchpail! Enter Sandman! Beamer Ball! Lunchpail! Enter Sandman!

Yet another big-game crapping for the Hokies. See ya inexplicably in the Top 10 again next year, VT.

You've been a kickoff specialist for four years when you're thrown into deciding a bowl game with a sharp, hashmark field goal. If I was the Myer kid, I might have made a mess at the point of the kick.

I'm constantly amazed when these guys DO come through under that kind of pressure. When you consider this kid was the third-string kicker ...
