Previous seasons have nothing to do with it. And stepping up from a shitty conference to a barely average one (that lost two of its best teams before this year and is losing the other one next year) isn't much of a step up.

Kansas State played four currently ranked team in conference play. Boise played one. The Big 12 is clearly superior to the MWC.

There are plenty of things we can argue about. Virginia Tech being in a BCS bowl game ain't one of 'em. So incredibly fucking ridiculous. Tech's bringing a grand total of ZERO wins over top 25 teams. And the only two times it even played a top 25 team, it got dumptrucked. Fucking pathetic.

I just saw that when the final BCS rankings came out, it turned out OSU beat four ranked teams and Alabama beat three. Not nearly enough difference to declare strength of schedule a closed case.

Yeah, and the fourth ranked team Alabama played was the No. 1 team in the country, to whom they lost in overtime.

Alabama over Oklahoma State, as I just said on the other thread, is a completely valid decision. As it would have been the other way around.

It looks like that with no SEC teams, the Sugar Bowl was clearly trying to match the two biggest fanbases it could. Which is why we've got Michigan-Virginia Tech.

Who did UCLA blow to get in to a bowl game?

The point being Boise isn't some gnat you can blow off anymore. It would be at least as good as Kansas State's 10-2 if it were in the Big 12. Boise has beaten enough teams of that caliber, and this season had the best such win between it and Kansas State.

So should the non-AQ conferences just drop to some lower level, since you will always have something a priori against them?
