If the Giants call Bill Cowher and he says "yes" they will fire Coughlin tomorrow and from what I understand, it is the one job he might say yes to.

Cowher is the only coach out there I think it would be worth getting rid of Coughlin for.

Fisher's a good coach and I like his brand of football, but is he better than Coughlin? Gruden's staying in the booth.

After that it's all retreads and unproven assistants. They could strike gold with some coordinator, but they could hire Ray Handley.

La Canfora is reporting the Rams have had it with Steve Spagnuolo and will make changes.

Any coach who says he's proud of how a 2-12 team is playing is usually dead in the water.

Spagnuolo has been dead coach walking for a few weeks now. I don't care how many injuries you have, if you have a 2-win team in that division, getting blown out more often than not, and players like Sam Bradford are showing big steps backward instead of forward in their progression (not to mention having a new owner who didn't hire you), it's an easy call.

I still don't get the fascination with Jeff Fisher. Out of 16 full seasons as an NFL coach, he's been .500 or worse in 10 of them. I get the Super Bowl trip and three division titles and all, but the way his name comes up for every good opening out there, I would expect more than 6 playoff appearances in 16 years.

Maybe it's because there are no other good candidates out there, but it's like this guy is Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh and Bill Belichick all rolled into one.

Unless Josh McDaniels was forced upon him - Spagnuolo really doesn't have an argument for being retained.

As the board's resident Titans fanboi, I agree with you 100 percent. Fisher's the most overrated coach in a generation.

One question I have is that - if its a GMs League - as I've heard so often in the last year, why aren't more GMs getting whacked for moves they made or didn't make?
Chicago is one place I'd expect to see the GM whacked. You knew Cutler was going to take a beating this year (because you put together a crap OL), and you don't have an experienced qb (who has maybe won a few games in his career) behind him?

I respect Fisher quite a bit. I think he often got more out of his teams than was expected.

Spagnuolo is 10-36. They've seen enough.

Agreed. I don't think he ever had top talent there and I think he did a pretty good job with what he had.

Wrong thread, unless you think Tressel is a candidate for the Indy job. :D
