NFL.com's Jason LaCanfora also says that, "Once Fisher is hired, expect Mike Sherman to be a big candidate."

What is this world coming to? Hopefully, LaCanfora owed Bob Lamonte a favor and that's all that was.

Oh now you've done it - Jeff Fisher is a sacred cow around here among at least one poster.

You come in to stir shit 7 days later by picking the same-old, same-old fight? It's no wonder you're considered a laughing stock.

Kevin Acee is reporting if the Chargers fire AJ Smith he will take the GM job in St. Louis and hire Gruden. I beg Spanos to fire Smith so we are rid of Gruden on tv.

A pathetic joke. That's a trial balloon which will crash faster than the Hindenberg.

Somebody hire him so we don't have to listen to his glurge anymore.

If I hear "across the formation" once more I'm going to scream.

Everyone in the league is equally good because every single player he talks about "does that as good as anyone in the league."

I like it when he and Jaws talk X's and O's. I don't like when they "evaluate" the talent of the guys on the field.

I could see Gruden taking the Colts, Rams or Chargers jobs if he decides to come back.

He probably looks at what Harbaugh is doing with Alex Smith (shitty to mediocre/passable) McCarthy is doing with Rodgers (young player to superstar) and what Payton is doing with Brees (good player to superstar) and thinks he could do the same with Rivers, Bradford or Luck.

I still say he stays at ESPN, but the San Diego paper today has me wondering if he wants to come back.

He can be funny, lucid and charming in a room, and none of that translates to MNF. He's been critical of one guy all season -- the easily criticizable Blaine Gabbert. He even had good things to say about Tyler Palko, waiver wire material if there ever was. Get him off the broadcast.

Gruden is benefiting from the lack of decent candidates out there...

As much as I despise Troy Aikman, he is capable of being critical without coming off as overly negative. I think if you had his critiques of players coming out of Gruden's mouth, with his delivery, you'd have a perfect MNF booth personality.

Gruden is engaging, passionate and knowledgable. I keep saying how much I enjoy his analysis of plays. Now if he could just add real analysis of players, he'd be pretty good.

I think part of the problem for Gruden is that he probably wants to keep open the option to coach again and, therefore, doesn't want to say anything bad about guys who could conceivably play for him someday (and it's a problem a lot of analysts face these days).
