Why wouldn't San Diego be more attractive to coaches than StL?

If they are offering someone (Fisher) the coaching job with total personnel control, I could see St. Louis being at least as attractive as San Diego. They have what they think is a franchise QB and a franchise (though aging) RB, and apparently have a shit-ton of spending room under the cap. I'd think someone could go in there, make massive changes rather easily and get them into contention in a pretty mediocre division (even with San Francisco's resurgence).

Fisher has ties to the Rams. Based on what I read on SI, it's all but a given he gets that job.

I am not gonna dance on anybody's grave, but I'm not gonna lie and tell you I'm not thrilled Polian is out.

With all the openings -- I wonder if someone tempts Saban back to the NFL?

He would be insane to leave.

How Jim Caldwell wasn't fired eons ago is baffling to me. The man was a Dumpster fire at Wake Forest and you are going to trust him with your NFL franchise?

Agree. Dungy made sure he got the job.

I see plenty of bashing on the Polians and no matter what you may think about them they were at the head of one of the most remarkably high performing and consistent team runs in NFL history. They were responsible for drafting Edgerrin James, Dwight Freeney, Reggie Wayne, Joseph Addai, Marcus Washington, Robert Mathis, Cato June, Bob Sanders, Antoine Bethea, and many more.
Most of those players listed have made at least one Pro Bowl (for what it's worth).
Most of those players listed were keys to sustaining the Colts' stunningly long run of success.
As a Redskin fan I can only pray we get front office executives like the Polians. They hit more than missed during their tenure and that's something to be admired in a league and sport were evaluation of talent from college to the pros is so difficult.
This isn't f@@king basketball where you can spot a superstar in high school and be set for good.
    A little respect is needed.

Sports have always been a "what have you done for me lightly" business, and they haven't done much lately. If you're going to "clean slate" things, now's the time if you're the colts.
