Schottenheimer and Childress are interviewing in Tampa.

    I'd give Marty another shot.

The guy is a hell of a coach from September to December. He builds teams.

Then, in the playoffs, he shits the bed.

But, he's a far superior choice to Sherman, or Mr. Noodle.

Brian Schottenheimer, who is not his father. Marty has said for years he's retired, though that's never stopped some from returning.

I thought I read something this weekend that said Marty would be interviewed for the Bucs job. Maybe I misread it...

    Well, that is a surprise.

Based on his age (68) it is a surprise.

Based on the (regular season) success he's had, it shouldn't be.

Maybe they hire Marty, bring Brian on as coach in waiting/OC.

    I've heard worse ideas.

Wow, I don't know that much about him, but I'm really surprised that Childress is getting another shot. That was about as toxic a situation as I've ever seen (from the outside, of course). I guess people are willing to blame it all on Favre.

I'm surprised too... Then again, Tampa's GM is a LaMonte client and Childress and Sherman are LaMonte clients.

Childress came surprisingly close to not getting a second year in Minnesota. He didn't make too many friends while there... Another one of those guys who came in making demand after demand despite having never done anything to deserve that kind of power.

Hell, he didn't even call the plays when he was in Philly.

I had this discussion with someone locally the other day - he said to me "now that Dave Wannstedt is a coordinator again, how long before he gets another shot at a head coaching gig." To which I answered "It can't happen again, can it?"

After seeing the names Jack Del Rio, Marty Schottenheimer and Brad Childress resurface for jobs, I stand corrected, in this league, Wanny as head coach could indeed happen again.....

Hell, Wade Phillips is getting an interview as well. You'd think that at some point people would realize that being a great coordinator does not always equate with being a good head coach (not that Phillips was ever a terrible HC, but still...)
