    The hell of it is, if I had to choose among those candidates for the Bucs' job -- I'd pick Marty in a heartbeat. Nice search committee they've got down there.

    JAY Gruden? Really? Ehh..he was better off being run over by cocktail waitresses at Arena Football games.

    This is kind of a cool chart.

    Didn't the GM make the trade for Palmer?

    Jackson was de facto GM after Al Davis passed.

    @HenryWoffordCSN Henry Wofford
    Hue Jackson so angry he could barely get his words out during our conversation. He said he can't believe his friend fired him.

    Indeed. I'm guessing Amy Trask and Mark Davis were too wrapped up in other details, so Jackson stepped into the vacuum. And the results speak for themselves, especially in that flustercluck of a finale against the Chargers. (Imagine if the Raiders won that one ... no Steelers-Broncos).

    It's obviously a power play by McKenzie, but as per Monte Poole, perhaps one by Mark Davis as well? http://www.mercurynews.com/raiders/ci_19712703

    Jackson might have kept his job if he didn't go berserk at the end of the season.

    I think part of the problem with Raiders for the last 15 years is that Al Davis knew his time was drawing short and approached each season as "the year." (I think Dallas has approached things the same way).
    You aren't building a sustainable organization, you are trading the future for the present (regardless of limited upside), you are constantly switching out parts, signing free agents and not developing talent from within. I don't think it is a coincidence that the Raiders long slide seemed to begin in the free agent era. Only five winning seasons since 1992, 16 in the previous 20 years.
    Hopefully, McKenzie will change the mindset. I hope he does "gut the place" and introduce those in the organization to the term "accountability," the Raiders seem overly rife with cronyism (even for the NFL).
