Hue was too tough for the Raiders.

One of the most fascinating things I heard about the Al Davis regime is that on draft day he did not even have a draft board, hence the choices out of nowhere. Reports are that he had the most bare bones scouting/personnel department in the league since he was the entire scout/gm dept.

Nice to see that Mark Davis, while respecting his father, is going to modernize the team. Maybe this time they'll get rid of the stupid penalties.

An overhead projector in 2008, perfect lingering memory of Al Davis.

On one hand, if he made the Palmer trade, that's cause for firing him. On the flip side, if there was any real chance of him getting fired he should never have been allowed to make that deal. A man fighting for his job will always mortgage the future to win now.

Jay Gruden? Really? Jerry Gray must be pissed that he coordinates for 10 years and Gruden gets a better shot than he does.

ESPN reporting Brian Schottenheimer out as Jets offensive coordinator, with Tony Sparano probably to replace him.

I watched all five parts of this again tonight (an hour-long presser).

Jackson tells Mike Silver that Mark Davis made the call to fire him, and wouldn't give him a vote of confidence last month.

Don't think it was just the Palmer deal, but the penalties and an absolute train wreck of a defense, especially down the stretch, played a rold. I've covered high school teams that looked better than the Raiders' defense did in the finale vs. San Diego. Jackson did himself no favors by throwing the whole organization under the bus in his postseason newsers.

Oh, and Mark Davis? It's 2012 ... lose the Buster Brown coif.

Hue's nuking every bridge possible. Oy.

  10. As far as penalties go I believe the Raiders, for whatever reason, have typically been one of the most penalized teams in the league year in and year out.

Going back to 2002 the Raiders are at or near the bottom almost every year. One year 2003 they were pretty clean, that was an anomaly.

I don't hate the Mularkey hire. I think he was the best of the bunch that interviewed for that gig. If you have a young QB who you expect to become a franchise QB, you bring in someone who has a history of working well with young QBs.

There are a few Davis lackeys, bullies and majordomos that need to be cleaned out with the purge. John Herrera being at the top of the list. As Silver has said before, he's the most pathetic executive in the league.
