... and to this day, Janikowski remains the most effective weapon in the Raiders' offense.

    The Mornhinweg train is rolling.

In spite of his flop as Lions head coach, Mornhinweg is extremely well respected in NFL circles. Many people believe he wasn't ready for the Detroit opportunity, and that Lions management didn't provide him with a chance to succeed in the role. As a result, he's on a lot of short lists of head-coaching candidates around the league.

Furthermore, Mornhinweg is well known for his ability to develop quarterbacks. And with the Colts apparently set to take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick in April's draft, they're likely looking for a coach with such a reputation.

Cowher played in the league and was an assistant on six playoff teams. They rolled the dice with the others and won. Helps only to have to roll it a few times.

For every Noll and Tomlin, there's a joker like David Shula and McDaniels.

And LongTimeListener, if that is the case, that absence of professionalism is more damning to Kiffin than any of his inadequacies.

He is extremely well-respected as an OC. So is Norv Turner.

I think what a lot of GMs tell themselves is that Belichick failed the first time around, too. In Mornhinweg's favor was that he was only 40 the first time around (I thought he was older), and that Detroit was such a shit organization.

I agree with this - which is why I don't have a problem with a guy like Mornhinweg getting another shot, especially since he was caught up in the that Matt Millen mess of an organization.

Gruden is good at winning with what someone has already built and whipped into a contender. I respect Tomlin, but he also inherited a tricked out team.

I watched J.P. Losman in college at Tulane, and the fact that Mularkey got any kind of positive professional production out of him at all speaks volumes about his ability.

So did Norv Turner. So did Wade Phillips.
