In addition to the Mangini duo noted above ...

Lovie Smith and Chan Gailey for Dick Jauron?

LTL beat me to the punch. Although Perry Fewell was the coach in Buffalo on an interim basis once Jauron left.

Bears hired a GM. Good to see they went after a "talent guy." His part in the drafts with the Bears and Falcons mentioned in the article is a positive, but it says nothing about the guys he brought to the Chiefs in his most recent gig. I know Baldwin, the Chiefs' latest first-rounder, had a couple good performances after returning from injury, but he's been a head case.

Fewell, another black interim head coach. Mike Singletary is another one. I don't know if it means anything, but I do think it is interesting.

Haven't seen anything about the heft of Schiano's contract. If it's along the lines I expect, I'll have more to say.

As bad as it's gotten at IU one could argue that Cameron's tenure at IU was a success.

I don't watch college football and don't know what kind of coach Schiano is, but the Bucs have a talent gap no rah-rah motivational stuff can fix. And in case it's been missed, they've gotten pretty cheap. It's incredible Morris coaxed 10 wins out of them the year before last.

I don't doubt that is true, but the little I saw of them this year they looked like a team who quit.

They certainly quit. They lost 10 in a row to end the season and got smoked in the final month. Gave up almost 500 points. There's just not much talent there.

I read Schiano's deal is for 2.35 mil a year for five.

In all likelihood, if Del Rio doesn't stick around for more than a year, it will be because someone gave him another head coaching gig.

Del Rio worked well in Charlotte during John Fox's first year with the Panthers before getting his gig in Jacksonville.

Stat's a bit misleading because the current administration has zero to do with Mike Shanahan and Josh McDaniels and their numerous mistakes. Mike Shanahan used the "I'll fire the DC" excuse for years because it was never, ever Shanahan's fault. It was Brian Griese. It was Jake Plummer. It was the defense, but it wasn't ever Shanahan's fault. Just ask Shanahan. Pat Bowlen finally - finally! - did something about it years after he should have.

Of course, compared to Josh McDaniels, even Shanahan's last decade in Denver wasn't that big a disaster. I know you know this, MH, but just sayin' ...

That's got to be among the league's five lowest.
