Running 2012 NFL coaches carousel thread

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by TigerVols, Dec 3, 2011.

  1. WTF would Randy Edsall's name be anywhere within a 100 miles of an NFL coaching vacancy?

The grumblings keep getting louder in KC about Joshy McDouche.

Romeo may have something to say about that if they win out.

  3. To stink them out of the joint, opening the move to LA

Then, as the Los Angeles (Insert Nickname here), they fire Edsel and hire a freshly-tanned Jon Gruden

After what happened yesterday, they should stick with Crennel.

So from this original list, which ones are definites (other than the firings that have already happened)?

    Rams
    Bucs

Probably the Eagles and Giants, though they may be able to save their jobs in the last couple weeks.

If the Lions lose out and miss the playoffs (they have the Falcons and Saints left, IIRC), is Schwartz safe? The dirty play thing is fine if you win. But to coach a dirty team, collapse like they have and not make the playoffs? What about Lovie Smith? The Bears have had a ton of injuries, but that team may be in need of a new voice.

No way the Cardinals whack Whisenhunt. Aside from the long, long leash he's still enjoying from the Super Bowl trip, he's done a pretty solid job saving this season. Rivera has to be safe, too.

If I'm a Chiefs' fan, it's keeping me up at night, wondering what this team could have done in a pretty poor division if they had a real coach all season and not a clueless red-ass like Haley.

I know the McCoach has ties to Pioli, but so does Crennel.

I know yesterday was a bit of a perfect storm for the Chiefs, but it was an incredibly well-coached game.

They took one of the most prolific passing attacks in NFL history and rendered it dead on arrival. They roughed up the league MVP and took one of the most effective receivers this season (Nelson) completely out of the game up until late in the 4th.

Crennel also made the decision to go with Orton, who was very effective yesterday.

  9. The decision to go with Orton - over Palko anyway - was a no-brainer.

I don't see any way Raheem Morris keeps his job.

Whisenhunt is safe now. The Cards have been playing pretty well lately.

I think Coughlin and Reid are safe. There are rumors that Reid might ask to be let out of his contract, but that remains to be seen.

I think the Rams have to get rid of Spagnulo. I think Raheem Morris is gone as well.

After reading the latest issue of SI, I think it's safe to say Cowher will not be in the mix for any of these jobs and I don't think Jon Gruden will be either...

Yes, it is always a smart move to hire a coach based on 1 game.
