The Canadian Open ought to be right after the PGA. Late August is the perfect time for it. But there's stupid WGC and even stupider FedEx Cup playoff tournaments in its way.

Taking a page from Bubba Watson and Oakley, the video of which received nearly eight million hits, Windy Knoll GC in Springfield, Ohio becomes the first course in the country to buy not one, but TWO hovercrafts for use as golf carts.

They're having a Hover Bash on July 27, where Nancy Lopez and Tim Rosaforte will be on hand as the hovercrafts are unveiled.

I sure hope they have the wit to use one of the hovercrafts as the vehicle for the drinks girl.

He's on their board of directors. He's always said that he considers this his "5th Major". Only 90 miles from home.

Brandt Snedeker with seven straight birdies to take the early first-round lead at the PGA BMW Open. Lots of players, including Snedeker, still on course.

Jim Furyk 8-under 28 on his first nine holes (10-18) at the BMW Championship.

Tiger wins Player of the Year. It's the 11th time he's won it. That's a lot.

He was player of the year from January through May, for sure.

Zero majors again. That's the number that matters.

It's almost as if the pro-Tiger camp has to continually convince itself.

Who's this camp (I mean other than me, I admit)? The players vote on it. Are they working with Ferguson on a pro-Tiger agenda? The players who are supposedly secretly so up in arms about Tiger's various rules debacles that they think he's hurting the game.

Sure Phil or Scott would have been deserving but 5 wins...yeah, that's Player of the Year.

Donald in 2011: 2 wins, no majors. Player of the Year.
Furyk in 2010: 3 wins, no majors. Player of the Year (a year that included an iconic Mickelson victory, just like this year, at the Masters).

Here's the one I'd love to know about though:
1990: Wayne Levi. Won four times. Won Player of year over Faldo...the winner of The Masters and the British Open. What the hell? Was Faldo that hated?
