    Since I'm in a hot-take mood:

    You could make a pretty good argument that Jordan, had he played in L.A., wouldn't have been the greatest Laker ever, either.

    I'm fond of the argument that Magic, not Jordan, is the greatest player of all time.

    I'm fine-tuning my LeBron-is-better-than-Jordan-too argument as we speak.

    Jordan, Magic, Kobe ... None is "better" than the others.

    I grew up immersed in "Showtime" and never budged from the opinion that Magic is better than Jordan.

    But you get older and start to appreciate sports from standpoints other than fanboi'ism.

    You appreciate what Jordan did from '85 thru '98, minus the 2 years he quit like a quitter. Jordan is a god of basketball.

    Magic Johnson is a god of basketball.

    Kobe Bryant is a god of basketball.

    One of these gods is not different from the others.
