Yup. He's at first base easily by the time the ball comes down.

He watched his pop-up, put his head down, took about five steps before he put the bat down, then jogged to first. Not exactly running it out.

Papelbon's an ass, but it's not like he didn't have point. If a veteran position player like Zimmerman (who I admit I don't know if he's considered respected or an ass) had pointed it out to Harper, would everyone still be defending Harper?

Nonstarter, Baron, because Ryan Zimmerman would not have chewed out Harper for that.

Except when those exploited employees work for Vince McMahon.

Actually, most of them make six figures, or more.

BTW, ever find those racist posts of mine, or are you continuing your streak of talking* out of your ass? I think you're up to 12 in a row by now.

    * Sorry, I forgot. You're posting out of your ass, not talking.

Is six figures where you draw the line on how people are treated?

    No surprise. Players hate Harper.

    Baseball players are meatheads.

I don't believe Nitkowski nor his blind quotes. Ballplayers might be dumb, but they're not too dumb to know Harper is the meal ticket on that team. Those wishing to stay employed by the Nationals (could be a minority at this point, I admit) would side with the superstar against a closer who'll be out the door first thing a week from today.

Suspended 4 games by Nats, 3 by MLB for plunking Machado, so he's out for the year:

    WWPRD?

    What would Pete Rose do?

(and Shottie, thanks for the extra film angle, I had not seen it.)

Baseball players side with a veteran over a precocious youngster? Color me shocked.
