The only time I have seen crowds boo is when the ball gets to first, and the batter is still standing in the general proximity of home plate, uninjured. I think most people understand that the biggest requirement is make sure you're safe in the event that there's an error, not to make the Little League All-Star team.

White Sox had to be close in '83.

Damn. Nailed that one. 53-47 after Game 100. 95-61 after Game 156. Started the year 16-24.

The New York Giants finished the 1951 season 42-14 when you count the 3-game playoff. They actually went 37-7 from Aug. 12 to the end of the regular season.

Everyone remembers it that the Dodgers choked that year, but the reality is the Giants just got red-hot.

The 1914 Boston Braves finished on a 43-13 run. They were 51-46 and in fourth place (6.5 games out) on Aug. 10 and finished 94-59 and 10.5 games up (they played only 153 games).

They were actually in last place (in an 8-team league) as late as July 18.

    Hence the nickname "Miracle" Braves.

Yeah. With the help of the elaborate sign-stealing system from beyond center field.

1927 Yankees went 42-12 in the middle of the season.

1939 Yankees went 45-11 to start the season.

1906 Cubs went 51-9 near the end of their season.

The 2002 A's went 44-12 down the stretch, with that little 20-game winning streak in the middle of it.

The 2001 Mariners started the season 52-14. Yes, they had a .787 winning percentage and a 20-game lead as of June 16.

Just saw that the Yankees went 46-10 from April 7 1998 to June 14 1998.

Nice pull. I'll never forget seeing Ron Kittle and Harold Baines getting doused in champagne after winning the ALCS in 1983 over Baltimore.

So clearly, this has been done way more often than I would have guessed lol.
