That also makes it interesting, given their stance that they will not pay the bonuses called for in his contract as he reaches various milestones.

Should probably also point out that, unlike Ryan Braun, the Cubs - and every other team that engages in managing service time - haven't violated any MLB policy or rules.

And my post was critical of the MLBPA for allowing them the loophole they are using, not the Cubs for taking advantage of it. Perhaps some folks here should actually read the posts they are responding to more carefully.

Nelson Cruz with 2 homers today, 8 in last 9 days.

My Royals are the chirpiest, most obnoxious team in baseball. Yost and Wakamatsu tossed today.

    And I love it.

And to think the Rangers could've kept Cruz for less than $8 million. Instead they dropped him to sign Shin-Soo Choo, who could be as big a free agent bust for Texas as Hamilton was for the Angels. That's saying something.

They also traded Chris Davis (and Tommy Hunter) for a set-up man.

To be fair, Cruz was coming off a suspension for PED use at the time.

Me too. To be fair though, they didn't do much through the first three series as guys kept getting hit and they lost Rios for a few weeks. Lawrie's slide kinda set off something that had been building and the ump crew couldn't have done much worse job handling it all weekend.

    Lawrie's slide was perfectly fine.

    It's called baseball.

    Royals are ninneys.

If he'd slid straight to the bag he'd have been safe. He went wide with his spikes at the knees because he wanted to spike him in the knees more than he wanted to be safe.

Either way, umps let things get out of hand Saturday and Sunday when there was no rhyme or reason for when guys got warnings or tossed. Royals were happy to let Saturday be the end of it until Cain got plunked in the first today.

Kazmir hit Cain in the foot. No way was that intentional.
