In conference. You know damn well what I'm talking about.

If you're trying to sell me on Washington (9-12), Tennessee (12-9) and San Diego State (11-9) as world beaters this year, keep trying. The Arizona and Florida wins are great. I'm far from a power conference snob. I covered low and mid major hoops for years. But I know the difference between playing an ACC schedule and a WCC schedule. I'm not saying Gonzaga doesn't deserve a spot in the top five. But I'm not ready to put them at No. 1. Schedule strength per KenPom is 185.

    Ooooh, KenPom!

CBS has Gonzaga's SoS at 90, which is nothing to write home about. But let's look at a few of the others not far for 90 ...

    69, West Virginia
    77, UCLA
    78, Wisconsin

Must be court factor or something.

    Oooh, CBS!

I can play this game too. Don't be an asshole.

I mean, take Clemson, which is basically the Platonic ideal of college basketball mediocrity. Out of conference, they have wins over Nebraska, Georgia, Davidson, Bama and South Cack, and losses to Xavier and Oklahoma. None of those teams are as good as Florida or Arizona, but that's why Gonzaga is a top 5 team and Clemson is a bubble team at best. The WCC has 10 teams, and five of them are .500 or worse, with Santa Clara at 12-11. That's basically 12 walkovers for Gonzaga. That matters.

I was half right. Noles win by 18 at Miami, where Canes had won 23 of 34.

I think I still like FSU to get the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament.

I'm looking beyond that. They'll play in Orlando as a protected seed the first weekend, but my selfish hope is they're a 2 or 3 in the Midwest so I can catch em in the Sweet 16 in Kansas City before tickets are impossible to get for that Elite 8 game with Kansas.

KU would be in the same session so tickets will be impossible anyway. May as well try to buy some now and sell them at a profit if FSU goes elsewhere.

Don't tell @Jake_Taylor, but I'm really counting on another KU second round flameout.

Ha, but if you buy tickets now, which I'd also recommend, best case scenario for you if FSU is in another region is KU winning and driving up the resale price.

I think of KenPom as a solitary janitor, hoping that bucket of gray water will last for the rest of the hallway.

Don't you buy tix for the three games before it starts?
