I think Thompson is fine. The struggles of his immediate predecessor, Craig Esherick, make his job secure. While the past two seasons have been sub-par this is his 13th year and he has been to the NCAA tournament eight times. I think the administration of Georgetown believes, correctly, that if they fire Thompson that they will not be invited to the NCAA tournament eight more times this century. It is not hard for me to imagine scenarios where that school could turn into a Big East doormat.

Thompson is criticized for not being a successful recruiter locally. That is true but historically long been the case. Georgetown stars have generally come from outside the D.C. area. For example, Otto Porter is from Missouri and Greg Monroe from Louisiana. They only have a couple local kids in the rotation this year. The success of that program has come from the ability to recruit effectively nationally. If Thompson goes then I think the ability to recruit top talent nationally is lost and there is no guarantee that they will be able to improve local recruiting.

His picture is in the dictionary next to "nonplussed."

I suggested him for NC State on another thread, but Kevin Keatts might be an even better fit for Georgetown. He'll have a better job by the time Georgetown ever moves on from the Thompsons though.

Has Trump sapped the life out of out lives that no one commented on the last weekend of CBB before conf tourneys?

The endless parade of 25-22 halftime scores of late have sapped the life out of CBB fans. With a few exceptions, the games are damn unwatchable. No one can shoot anymore between 8 and 20 feet.

But when the same type of games are played two weeks from now, we'll all be mesmerized because it's MARCH MADNESS!

    Ah, gambling ...

I watched a couple games yesterday and three today. I'm all over this stuff.

I fell in love with that little guard No. 5 from Notre Dame yesterday -- even though they ended up losing.

And Swanigan from Purdue is an absolute freaking horse.

Oh, yeah, and I wish I had seen the Lehigh-BU double overtime game.
