Greensboro Coliseum was almost always empty for the early games, too, which is why the tournament should be in places with attractions besides basketball. The semis and finals will fill the arena regardless of where they hold the tournament. Most fans can't make room in their schedule for even four days of basketball, let alone five.

The ticket system (books only) also has a lot to do with the vacancies at the early games. If the ACC wants butts in seats for the Les Robinson games, it needs to decouple the early rounds from the semis and finals, for sale directly from the league and the host facility.

In my, admittedly limited, experience covering the ACC Tournament those early round days were good for one thing. Sources who were bored as hell and thus willing to chat about almost anything.

I've never been to the Les Robinson Invitational. Never felt the need. I brought up the empty seats because of the mention of returned tickets the last time it was in Greensboro.

Opening day in 2015 - last time it was at the coliseum - the listed attendance was 9,000. Looks like yesterday's opening rounds were 8,500. Maybe New York City has too many alternative options to watching bad basketball? The rest of the 2015 tournament was a sellout.

Boeheim might have a point. And if -- not that they would, considering where they work, but just as two coaches of similarly large stature -- Mike Krzyzewski or Roy Williams suggested that they should move the tournament around for competitive balance or to help grow the conference, it would probably be better received.
Boeheim, however, has been in the ACC for all of five seconds and just got his ass kicked. He comes across like a cross between a whiny titty baby and the annoying new guy at the office who loudly says, "Well, at my old company we did it THIS way and it worked GREAT."

Boeheim has been shitting on Greensboro since the minute Syracuse's move to the ACC was announced. He bitched about having to go there in his first public comments on the conference change. It's pretty much a running joke at this point.

He also took a page out of his buddy K's book: Here's something mildly controversial you can talk about instead of our loss.

Boeheim should endorse a brand of prune juice.

Boeheim can go sit his cheating ass down on a rusty railroad spike and twist, while thanking Satan he didn't meet Joe Paterno's fate for enabling a pedophile just to keep his stupid job. Fuck him.

Did anyone point out to Boeheim that he was in Brooklyn when he said this stuff? I mean, I couldn't have helped it if I was at the presser, and I was not a confrontational reporter (IMO, when people see you as sort of furniture, that's when they hang themselves).

One last call for the Vegas types.

Tonight is the last chance to win money against a Kim Anderson-coached team playing away from home.

Been a fun three years. We may never see this easy money like this again in Power 5.
