Somewhat forgotten is the Yankees had the most wins of any team in the 1980s. They also had Willie Randolph batting second and he was kind the ideal second baseman back then, walked a lot, stole some baseball, above average with the glove. Those four were usually rounded with a DH like Don Baylor or Jack Clark or Mike Easler. They also had Mike Pagliarulo at third and he hit well for about three years. It was a scary good line-up...until you got to catcher and short. And, of course, pitching was suspect.

The world changed quick. I can recall going to games there as early as 1980. Weren't nobody wearing no suits and ties.

Didn't it seem like every homerun hit on that team by a leftie in the 80's went halfway into the upper deck in right?

    Pagliarulo.......Mattingly.......Hall......

That was the era when Andy Hawkins pitched a no-hitter and lost.

The Orioles, I believe, may have set a major league record by allowing 5+ runs for a 20th straight game last night.

Their starting pitchers' ERA is 5.79.

At least I have the rest of my summer free.

They tied one of the awful Phillies teams of the 20s for the record.
