Running 2017 MLB regular season thread

I must admit, I didn't realize Justin Smoak, Corey Dickerson and Zack Cosart were having the type of seasons they are. The fans are showing some intelligence with their starters this year.

 

Or MLB fudges close numbers -- they don't release the final voting numbers, just the AL and NL leading totals and the overall number of votes.

Smoak was down by 72,000 votes to Hosmer with four days to vote. Maybe he made it up but KC fans are notorious stuffers.
Dickerson was down by 100,000 to Cruz with four days to vote. Now Cruz got voted in anyway, but lets say he had won the Player vote and would have been a reserve and Dickerson was third on the players behind Encarnacion. That would have made the roster construction tougher because the Rays need someone. So this way they get the best of both worlds.

Dickerson has been clutch all year for a Tampa Bay team that is still hanging around a wild-card spot. A little home-fan bias here, but I'd give him a top 5-7 vote for MVP.

 

Of course fans waited three weeks to start voting and stopped voting two weeks ago.

 

I don't know about clutch, but Dickerson has been extremely productive.

If only fans could see games on local TV ... oh yeah!

 

MLB.tv annoyance: In NC visiting parents and Mets-Nationals games will be blacked out even though there is no way to actually watch the game on cable TV, so far as I'm aware. Orioles games are blacked out here, too.
