And frankly, the Angels have gotten a lot of props for hanging in the wildcard race with a banged up pitching staff and Trout on the DL

I didn't think I could dislike the Nationals more, then I see in the background of their game against the Braves they are having a "Nationals Fedora Giveaway" on the 26th.

    Fedora.

Mine was a comment about the Dodgers, not the Angels. Just because you win a game with a dramatic comeback doesn't mean you're a "Team of Destiny." The Dodgers have more good players than the teams they are playing. They're going to win more games. Good for them.
As for the Angels, they have just about the same record with and without Trout. So, yes, they get credit for hanging in and could make the wild card despite finishing 25-plus games behind Houston. That is more a statement about the other lousy wild-card contenders than the Angels. No, I'm not saying they should trade Trout, absolutely not. You don't trade the best player in the game.

And now I see they're hosting Ladies Night. This from a team that invited Trump, who bragged about committing sexual assault and getting away with it, to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. This event, like their ill gotten team, deserves to fail miserably.

They are still, sadly, better than the Orioles.

I may be more offended by a sea of Nationals fans in fedoras ... but it's close.

    EDIT: Beating them 13-0 helps.

The Pirates have scored 10 runs against Jon Lester before yanking him with two outs in the first inning. I guess the grand slam by Cervelli in his second at-bat was the final straw. There was an error in there, so only four or the runs were earned, but that's one hell of an ugly performance.

Sometimes I really hate being right. It's bad for my fantasy team, but if Dickie is peeking in, he can stick his FIP where the sun does not shine. Lester is clearly not even close to the pitcher who finished second in the NL Cy Young voting last season.

The Cubs will need a hell of a comeback to avoid going into the All-Star break two games under .500.

I just saw the score on the crawl. My first thought was they started the game really early until I saw the Cubs were batting in the first. Good God what a bad inning for Chicago.
