Credit where credit is due. East Coast bias is a plague.
Everybody who earned All-Star status should have at least been mentioned. Five seconds to put his picture up and say he earned a spot but is injured.
Instead, they gave us everybody and his brother interviewing Judge. Judge did a good job handling it all and giving the same answers to Tim Kurkjian and Buster Olney and Frank Thomas and everybody else who asked him the same questions.
Last night was a truly impressive performance by Judge, using his massive power to hit creampuff pitches over the fence. What impressed me the most was that some of the balls he didn't square up went out any way -- they would have been routine fly balls by less powerful players.

If Trout was there, they probably would've been talking about him as much or more than Judge. But since he wasn't there, they are trying to hype the game and the players who are there. Even though there is a Why Does Kershaw Suck thread, he is still one of the best pitchers in the game. But he didn't pitch tonight. Should they have talked about Kershaw more?

If Lonzo Ball was on the East Coast he might get some air time.

Papa LaVar Trout would have assured that.

I didn't say they needed to hype Trout, just one mention would have been enough. To ignore him was negligence.

They also whiffed when Bellinger was batting against Andrew Miller. They implied Bellinger had no chance against the lefty, missing the opportunity to recall that the only home run Miller has given up this season was to Bellinger.
It's fun to bash the TV networks.

You're all assuming Joe Buck does any - any - advance work prior to a telecast. He reads what some 20-year-old intern has scrabbled together from the notes package supplied by the league. Then he gleans on to the love story of the day - see Schwarber, Kyle - that one of the P.R. flaks handed to him, and slurps on it to the nubs. The only positive he brings to a baseball broadcast is that it means he isn't doing golf.

    Kid is playing A ball.

Seems kind of shitty to make the story of his dad's arrest about him.

That should've been mentioned. Watched the first 5 innings pretty much without audio. Did they not mention Trout at all?
