    Perhaps as soon as tonight, Adrian Beltre will join the 3,000-hit club. Quietly, Albert Pujols is closing in and will get there next year.

    Looks like the next one likely to get to 3,000 is Miggy Cabrera, who's less than 400 away at age 34. Robinson Cano is the same age but is about 700 hits away, a tougher ask but not impossible.

    Barring some age-defying miracle, it'll be a few years before anyone else threatens 3,000. The leading hitters under age 30 are Justin Upton (1,410) and Elvis Andrus (1,382). Andrew McCutchen, who is right at 30, has 1,409.

    IIRC, didn't a few pitchers wear them during spring training a year or two ago and pan them as not ready for primetime? The downside was that the padding made the cap wider and unbalanced, thus interfering with their vision and movement.
