    Outfielder. First baseman.

    808 SBs. 83 SBs.

    .385 OBP. .329 OBP.

    69.1 WAR. 37.7 WAR.

    That's a clown question, bro.

Because one had 478 walks and the other had 1,330
And one had 83 steals and the other had 808
And one was a first baseman with no power while the other was an outfielder.

Tim Rains did not make the hall of fame. I don't even know who Tim Rains is.

Are you trolling or lying with this one? Sometimes I have a hard time telling.

So Ed Begley Jr. is in the Hall of Fame?

If Garvey had played with Frankie Frisch in the 1920s or 30s, he'd already be in the Hall of Fame. Worked for Highpockets Kelly and Jim Bottomley.

I don't know if the OP was serious or making fun of the tweeter, but Garvey wouldn't be anywhere near the worst player in the Hall of Fame if he was elected tomorrow. That's no reason he should be in, though.

    What a stupid fucking question.

He wouldn't be the worst, but he'd be in the bottom third (of first basemen) -- he'd be close to that Frankie Frisch territory of Hall of Fairly Good.

Tigers GM Al Avila just traded his son to the Cubs:
