Same thing happened with the Braves in 1983. Brett Butler was the PTBNL in the Len Barker trade, but was allowed to finish the season in Atlanta. Word leaked out, and Braves players and fans were (rightfully) pissed.

I did forget about Hicks, but quite honestly, I'm not sold he's going to be a big contributor going forward. He had a very good couple of months, but he was already regressing before the injury. I don't think it's a given that he's going to continue slugging 200 points above his career average or getting on base at a clip 100 points higher than his career average.

Cashman said he's going to send Clint Frazier back down when Hicks gets back, which is unfortunate because Frazier is a helluva lot of fun to watch.

Gio Gonzales was a PTBNL in the Jim Thome/ Aaron Rowand trade between the Chicago White Sox and the Phillies

Good form. Did he play high school baseball?

Scherzer hits first career homer in top of the second, throws a warm-up in bottom of the inning and says he's done, lifted for an injury. That changes a whole lot in the NL

They should place Ellsbury on waivers and designate him for assignment before sending Frazier down.

Agreed. Frazier makes that team better right now. He shouldn't be sent down.

I believe the problem is if the Yankees do that, he can refuse the assignment because of his seniority. They either have to keep him on the 25-man or release him and with his money due they won't do that.

Nah. He said he slept wrong on it last night and got himself out there before he aggravated it. Should be ready to go next turn.
