Well his brother Trayce played in MLB so I'm sure he's also played quite a bit of baseball. I think another, older brother played affiliated ball also.

    Dear Cleveland Indians:
As you may recall, I requested that you begin your annual pilgrimage down the AL Central, and so far, you have obliged. On behalf of all Royals fans, we thank you.

    Dear Kansas City Royals:
Ok fartbags. The Indians are doing their part by losing. Now hold up your end of the bargain by beating someone. Losing 2 in a row to the birds is not helping your cause.

I'm not talking about just his ERA last year. I'm talking about his career. I'm talking about his career numbers, which don't fit your statement about who he is now. The reason for that is a decline in performance, exactly what I was talking about months ago.

But hey, that was a nice attempt to misrepresent the opposing side of the argument. It failed, but nice try.

Why do you always have to accuse someone of something nefarious?

Why can't you just talk about baseball?

Watching the Indians-Red Sox last night, it reminded me I could never be a Red Sox fan. Every game in Fenway is essentially like playing in a carnival funhouse. The games take six hours to play. Irrational, infuriating things happen. Great pitchers like Carrasco and Sale randomly pitch like Jim Brower and John Wasdin. Five-run leads are mirages.

That Austin Jackson catch made it all worth watching, though.

Why can't you properly represent what I posted?

I wasn't talking just about the decline from last season. I was talking about his career. You said he is "3.90-4.00ish pitcher." I pointed out that his career ERA is 3.47 and he hasn't had an ERA in or above the range you mentioned since 2012. That indicates a decline to what you say he is now. Given his age, 33, and the fact that he has pitched over 200 innings eight of the last nine seasons, that could be a very real decline.

Does that sound like I am basing my view solely on 2016? No, it does not. I'm happy to just talk baseball, but I will call bullshiti when I see bullshit.

I think Tiger Woods has a fighter's chance at the PGA in a few weeks. True, he's laid up recovering from another back surgery ... but just look at that career record!

I am, too. That's not what you do. You attack people's character and motives. That's something different. It's obnoxious. It's why everyone here makes fun of you. It's not how humans productively interact.

That is funny stuff given your posting history.

I actually do talk baseball, so for you to say otherwise is just more of your dishonesty. You misrepresented my argument and I made sure that was clear, while restating my actual point. Rather than talk baseball, you responded with a personal attack. The appropriate response would be to acknowledge the correction and either refute my point or move on, but you chose to take another dump on the thread.

You said Lester is a "3.90-4.00ish pitcher," which is well below his career 3.47 ERA and well below the pitcher he had been since 2013. So are you wrong about who he is or has he declined?

As a follow-up, isn't it legitimate to think that a 33-year-old pitcher who threw at least 200 innings eight of the last nine seasons and 197 in the other might be in decline? Not that he is terrible, but his decline is part of why the Cubs were below .500 in the first half of the season. He was part of the problem and it is just one of the many problems on that team you didn't bother with while posting over and over again about Arrieta.

By the way, after a shitty start, Arrieta has his ERA down to 4.03 and his WHIP is 1.23. Not great, but not bad for a guy whose ERA was up to 5.44 in mid-May. He is average innings per start is 5.75. Sure, it's not quite at Lester's 5.83, but they are getting closer.
