Agreed on all counts. They gave him a chance to keep finding different partners until he got the "right" ones because of who he is. But from MLB's perspective, of course they did ... the guy handled the NYC spotlight flawlessly for 20 years, he's going to put a good face on a shit franchise and they're not just awarding the team to another doddering old white guy who can't connect with the next generation of fans. Assuming he was able to bring on good partners, this was always the best move for the league.

Cardinals wrap up seventh consecutive victory -- and sixth consecutive scoring eight runs or more -- with an 8-5 victory against the Braves. Pending outcome of Cubs, STL is a half-game out of first.

He had a hell of a fucking game (or last two innings at least). That throw was nails, particularly in light of what Chapman had done to begin the inning. If Hicks just catches that ball and Nunez takes third, I have no doubt the Sox would have tied the game.

How much did baseball history just change because MLB made them play a game that in the long run will be meaningless?

Pedro Gomez is on ESPN saying first that it was the Nats then it was MLB who decided to play the game because the money from a Saturday night was too much to pass up.

I thought MLB had control of a postponement when the visiting team will not be returning to the host city again

Angels quietly move into the second AL wild card slot. Of course, there are seven teams within 2 1/2 games of the final spot.

It does but he first blamed the Nats for putting players at risk in order to secure a Saturday night gate. He then retracted that to say it was MLB's decision but the reasoning was the same.

    LOL.

Harper should sit out until October. They should play scrubs the last 50 games.
