Isn't he basically Jeff Samardzija without a fool's gold good year thrown in there somewhere?

Probably. I don't know if I'd compare Bauer to Ricky Nolasco skillwise, but Nolasco has a career 4.57 ERA, 1.325 WHIP, and 3.97 WHIP. He's been making around $12 mil a year since he turned 30. He's 34 now and due $13 mil next year.

Bauer has a 4.41 career ERA, 1.365 WHIP, and 4.16 FIP. And he's only 26 years old. He could easily be in line for a Nolasco-like contract (four years, $49 million starting in 2014). Probably more. Which would be fantastic for the Indians if he's turned the corner and become the pitcher he was thought to be when he first came up. It would be rather meh if he's Ricky Nolasco.

Don't forget, Bauer is a winner -- 27-16 the last two years. Winners win and get paid.

I personally like Bauer and wish baseball and sports in general had more free thinkers like him.

However, he's just not a very good pitcher.

He reminds me of Crash Davis' line about Nuke Laloosh and his shower shoes. "If you win 20 in The Show, you can let funk grow on your shower shoes and the press will think you're colorful. But until you win 20 in The Show, it means you're a slob."

Well, until/unless Bauer gets his ERA below 4 and cuts down on his walks and home runs allowed, he's an egghead pain in the ass and will always be thought of that way.

Right now I like Bauer. I wouldn't mind if the Dodgers signed him. I think he'll have a tremendous 5-year run. He's got the stuff.

Then why isn't be better? He's had five years.

He's 26 so it's pretty much now or never for the next 5-7 years. I'd take that chance. I just like his stuff.

Seems like it's all about the walks. That's the easiest thing to say needs to be fixed and the hardest thing to actually fix.

Trevor Bauer's ERA could be a run lower than it currently is and it still wouldn't be worth having to watch him pitch every five days. He's infuriating. I thought my life would get easier when Ubaldo Jimenez left, but Drone Boy was still there.

This kinda sorta might become a pretty pretty pretty big story in New York.

Always good to have a little extra juice in this rivalry. Obviously they're seemingly on national tv every time they play, this year seems more fun. This adds to it.

Bauer is 8-0 in his 9 with a low 3-something ERA.
