    No.
Tonight has subjected those of us who are alums to embarrassment. Ridicule at the office on Monday. It is the biggest on-court humiliation in the history of the NCAA tournament. Of this, there can be no doubt.
    Whatever.
In general, Bennett is a tremendous emissary of the school, one whose integrity stands in stark contrast to the shenanigans at University-6, where they get punished for hookers in the dorm room and offer six figures to secure a player only six weeks after said punishments for said hookers in the dorm are administered.

At the University of Nebulous Credit, a scam of two decades should have cast doubt on the legitimacy of several teams. But the NCAA, after sabre-rattling for years, suddenly contracts into the fetal position and blabbers about how its hands are tied.
Because CBS can't tolerate the notion of a tournament without the Tar Heels.

They can have those embarrassments. I'll take mine.

The school says its Retriever is of the Chesapeake Bay variety. Good for them.

So you still can make an emotional investment in UVA?

Agreed. Before the contest entries were posted, I joked that they would become the first No 1 seed to bust brackets by making the Sweet 16, and I was surprised by the national faith in them. Nothing -- not the system, not the injury to Hunter -- explains the margin of defeat to a team from the Northeast Conference. Is that their conference?

Chaminade’s next game after that tournament was at my then Division 2 (now Big West) alma mater in SoCal.

It was the only time I can recall the gym being filled in my five years as a student there and the only time I can remember LA TV stations showing up.

I'll be taking everything with more cautious and more restrained optimism. The NCAA tournament bar to be crossed is suddenly lower than it once was.

I've owned two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. They are great dogs.

    You got your wish.
Don't worry about what a message board poster has to say. Be grateful that UVa did not or could not play politics and keep Tech out, as SEC schools have been able to do re: Clemson or FSU or Ga Tech. Or, hell, UConn, which relatively new member BC excluded. Politics gave Va Tech s lifeline.
The politics of Virginia a decade ago are the gift that keeps on giving in perpetuity.
