Well crap. Thanks, UMBC. School should still be called off tomorrow.

Sunday night, when coaches from the great state of West Virginia break out their fanciest T-shirts and windbreakers.

Anyone on espn, cbs or any web site still have a perfect bracket? Think last year or the year before someone had one until the Elite Eight.

Classy moment when UMBC pulled its starters with 9 seconds left and some of the K-State guys went over to give them bro-hugs and handshakes as well. I love seeing that kind of thing.

Christ, yes. Friday really was the perfect storm - UVA plays its worst game in, what, five years?, and Lyles has the absolute game of his life. UMBC shoots lights out, UVA defense panics and loses shape, driving lanes in the packline become wide open due to stretching out, UVA falls behind, panic sets in, bad offensive shots taken, shit snowballs. 20-point loss.

This is going to sound like the sourest of grapes, but if those teams play 100 times, UVA wins, what, 90-95? Add Hunter in the mix to guard Lyles and unstick the offense a little and it’s probably closer to 98.

    In San Diego. Makes sense.

That's true of most any tournament upset, though. It always takes a perfect storm of the underdog playing their best game of the season and the favorite having an off night. If the favorite plays up to their potential and talent, or even close to it, it should win in the end.
Alas, that is why they play the games and why we watch. For that 1-in-100 chance of the perfect storm occurring.

On a scale of 10 burning couches, how big a game is this in the history of West Virginia sports?

I fully expected UMBC to get run off the court today. I don't know whether the fact that they were in it almost to the end says more about them or K-State.

Them. They just went through this whirlwind of a 48 hours, making history and getting messages from everyone and went toe-to-toe with a good team.
