    Yeah, that's borderline amazing that a player getting in hot water like that would get a story on the website. Guessing it didn't make the Instagram feed.

    Golf Channels coverage of Safeway Open is borderline unwatchable.
    Right now, they're showing an average of 3-4 shots in between commercials.
    Absolutely brutal.

    And it's U.S. Open week -- and GC has that coverage too.

    Hopefully....USGA still has the deal with Rolex where they buy a lot of the time.

    Maybe. GC/Peacock/NBC only paying half the contract that Fox signed, so this is a cash cow for them and a bloodbath for Fox. So advertising inventory not as important for NBC in terms of this contract but after getting slammed earlier this year, including a lost Olympics (for now), I wouldn't be surprised if the advertising slots are kicked up.

    No matter what it is, it all pales in comparison to the eye with The Masters.

    If the Green Jackets said "You're doing the entire broadcast in Spanish......"

    And they would pay in pesos.

    I expect a good broadcast this week from the Peacock. They are stoked to have the Open back after looking at another eight-or-so years without it. And to get it at a major discount The Open on the Peacock makes sense for them and the USGA because it's inventory for GC for the lower-end tournaments the blue coats put on.

    The invention of the "we'll play through" commercial breaks is total viewer abuse. The split screen is too small to show any real action in a sport with such a small ball unless it's a putt. But they just keep showing the same action at invisible scale and the producers know it sucks. The tell is how when the full screen comes back, the announcers invariably start by saying "as you saw during the break, such and such happened" meaning "as you didn't see." And of course, the network uses this as an excuse for more commercials. "Hey, you could still see the golf. You just had to hear Flo's voice over it."

    Except for the Masters, its impossible for me to watch golf live. Its DVR to ff through the commercials, or im not watching it.
