Golf courses have to maintain the property. Sometimes that entails closing down one hole, a few holes, a few greens, etc. Aeration, re-seeding, renovating bunkers, etc. It all has to be done sometime. And they've closed 17 precisely because it is their gem on that course. The work needs to be done.

And at some point, that hole needs maintenance, and it gets closed.

I will be very very anxious to see the field for the John Deere Classic, which is the first event back for the fans.

The problem with all venues is entry points, you're not going to achieve social distancing unless you want lines stretching forever. Or you create a lot more entry points, which opens up a new set of issues. And you don't need tracking badges to know that people will gather around the 18th or a good par-3 or whatever. The only solution is limiting the number of fans, and the number that would be really safe is probably not one that any tournament organizers are gonna like.

I stumbled across this episode of insane pools on DIY network. These guys were building this monstrous pool and cavern and waterfall on this monstrous FLA property next to this monstrous mansion.

Tiger Woods or Bill Gates' property? No, it turns out its for JB Holmes.

They're going to like it more than Colonial and the other tournaments kicking things off with no fans.

I'm sure none of the tournament organizers are sleeping very well these days but the ones running events without fans have a ton less to worry about. Obviously there's the revenue shortfall but that's out of their hands.
