And the U.S. Ryder Cup team has to beat one team every two years. Wilbon is just filling time with that take.

I think his general point about the uncertainty of projecting the future in golf was well taken, but not well expressed. I mean, how many times did NBC point out that if it wasn't for covid, Spieth wouldn't have made the US team if the Cup was held last year as scheduled? Neither would've English or Berger or Cantlay. Same goes for the Euros. Last year no way Weisberger, a solid but not exactly inspiration player, is on it. It's all about who's on form. I wonder if this blowout will prompt the Euro powers that be to increase the number of captain's picks for their side. BTW, who's gonna be their captain for 2023. If Phil's a lock for 2025, so is Sergio. Now there's theater!

Poulter in 2025 would be pretty darned good too. He'd fire back at every wisecrack, and boy would he be busy.

Can anyone think of someone who wins multiple majors like Rory then zip? Hard to fathom.

Just off the top of my head, I'm guessing Rory has won eight or 10 times since his last major. I might be wrong, and without giving this a whole lot of thought, I think their last major was the last time in the winner's circle for Kaymer and Zach Johnson.

Curtis Strange had two US Opens by the time he was 31 or so. He had won the money list multiple times and was a clear top 10 player in the world. He never even won a Tour event again.

    Zach is respected enough.

Arnold didn't win a tournament after 33. Not just a major. Any tournament.

I meant zero majors. Rory had 4 at 25. Majors are hard to win. I get it but wow, to be so young then nada.

From everything I've read, Rory is super run down. I don't think we'll see him again until the Middle East swing on the Euro tour. He's in dire need of a mental break.

Great move by the Tour and Farmers Insurance to move the event to Wed-Sat to avoid NFL conference championships, plus finishing in ET prime time Sat night.
