Not sure. I can't find any story that has much more than the LPGA's statement:

“On the 18th hole of her Day One match, Carlota Ciganda was assessed a loss-of-hole penalty for a breach of the LPGA’s Match Play Pace of Play Policy. Per the policy, a player is subject to penalty if she exceeds the allotted time for her total strokes taken on a hole by more than 10 seconds, averaging 30 seconds per shot. Ciganda exceeded the allotted time for the number of strokes taken on the 18th hole.”

Interesting. Only asked because I know in our events that we'll put a red flag on the next tee to warn for slow play, at least at our association's events. We would never just give a slow play penalty out of the blue. I'm sure she had to have been on the clock before the penalty was issued. Otherwise, that's kind of fucked up.

Agree. But puzzled why the LPGA wouldn't put that in the statement if she had been warned.

Phil shot 73 at Colonial and is 10 shots behind Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia

To my experience, people who have to announce they're living rent-free in someone's head means the opposite. I doubt Brooks Koepka concerns himself much with what DeChambeau thinks and I'd take Brooks over Dumbo in anything -- from golf to a bar fight.

Koepka has four majors, or roughly the number of excuses De Chambeau has made at Augusta in the past 12 months. I'll take the guy with the gimpy knee.

At any given pro event, 25 percent of the field violates whatever pace-of-play policy that's in effect and no one gives a damn.

Phil misses the cut. After winning the PGA, maybe he just wanted a weekend off.
