I like Spieth-Thomas kicking it off in alternative shot. That's got to be the most difficult format for the Americans, because they rarely play it. But two guys who have known each other since junior golf, and two of the best scramblers in the world (along with Garcia and Rahm). Should be fun to watch.

Every couple of years I'm reminded how I'm underwhelmed by the gravitas of the event's namesake.

I love Ryder Cup and foursomes especially. Only played that a couple of times. Very different. Only issue for a Publix guy is you’re paying full price and getting half the shots. But if I was a private guy I’d play it more.

I’m thinking that US will do it with better young blood. Poulter just looks like another guy now, short inaccurate hitter. (I’ll probably regret that). Garcia is erratic and Rory has never been a STUD, good but not that.

Cantlay Berger Collin and Xander are going to be tough.

 

I think I've actually had a harder shot from there; second or third time I played there my ball was in one of those bunkers. I'm six feet from the edge of the green but 12 or 15 feet below the surface of the putting surface. The only way my way was getting on the green is if I'd picked it up and thrown it on. I took my X and went to 18.
