I know we spent time here Thursday saying Tony Bennett deserved to be judged on the larger record and not his NCAAT struggles.

I'm not sure I'm ready to afford the same courtesy to John Calipari.

No Duke, no Kentucky, no Kansas, no Purdue, we've got Princeton and FDU, and we never even had North Carolina, Michigan or Georgetown. Wonderful.

How about THOSE WILDCATS!! (The Sweet 16 version, not the going home version.)

I was on the Peloton without the sound on the first time they ran it and I thought, “well, every team will use that next year.”

    One word: Nerds.

There may be something else that I am missing but I reject anything other than nerds.

I'm old enough to remember thinking how cool it must be to be in the college band, get great seats to basketball games - but yeah - nerds. Admire the talent and dedication though.

Also, the tourney is weird - you really don't hear about repercussions after a team is bounced early. We get caught up in the "next game" and the loss is chalked up to "just being one of those things" - can't remember a coach ever getting canned after losing a tourney game (just making the field is usually enough).

Also - stunning to think as many teams make college football bowl games now as the teams that make the NCAA tourney, considering how many more teams field D1 hoops programs.

St Mary's uniforms are terrible to tell who's who by their numbers. How they get away with that is a joke

I was in the college band and it WAS cool and fun to play at games.

But yes, most of us were nerds.

I've always been impressed how college bands and cheerleaders always bring it - even during crappy games of terrible seasons. Honestly - always thought the students who do those activities deserve all the "senior night" festivities that the players get, considering how much time they put in, for all the sports.
