Because the game is over. Unless you're looking to cover a line or an O/U, it's a dick move.

    1. I attended FAU in the sixth grade.
    2. I completed my University of Florida degree at FAU 10 years later.

In 1970, Palm Beach County schools partnered with FAU's education department to study gifted kids. Is it really nature/nuture, are we hardwired differently or we just have a quicker operating system that allows us to skip steps in the learning process? So on Fridays when the rest of my class was at J.C. Mitchell Elementary, I was placed in a classroom at FAU with 11 other brainiacs from across the county and we were guinea pigs for PhD candidates. Think of it as a weekly middle school Mensa test. I thrived on aptitude tests and doing higher level critical thinking was an awesome diversion from daydreaming in Mrs. Ward's class where nobody could figure out the noun from a verb, how to multiply and divide fractions or memorize state capitals.

We moved away to California the following year so I have no idea if the project uncovered any cool theories. At the time, FAU was only a two-year upperclass and graduate studies campus, so it was odd to be in a group of 12 year olds wandering around with college kids.

In the summer of 1980, I petitioned UF for a hardship waiver to take the one journalism ethics course at FAU rather than spend three months of room and board in Gainesville for a semester, since my parents were in Coral Springs by then. The biggest difference? I drove myself to school instead of having a get ride from my dad.

It amuses me to think that a little school built on a World War II training airfield has a football stadium and hosts a bowl game. Burrowing Owls, rah!

But it wasn't from 1891 until like...1995? 1998? Later? Games used to always end with the teams just playing until the end. And no one cared.

Georgia’s plan today — which worked pretty well — was to have one defender pick up Clark just after she crossed midcourt, and a second defender a few feet behind, in case of the dribble drive.

That held the Hawkeye star to “only” 22 points, much of it late in the game, but she also had 12 assists as her open teammates knocked down 3-pointers.

FDU had conceded the game. If they were still pressing and FAU broke it and the guy dunked, it's fair game. When the FDU players don't foul or go for the steal right from the inbounds pass because there's no realistic path to victory and the guy does that, it's just plain bad sportsmanship. There wasn't even an FDU player in the front court. They were getting ready to shake hands. There's just no reason to do it other than being a jerk.
It's like being up 17 points in a football game with 10 seconds left and faking a kneeldown so you can throw a 70-yard touchdown pass to an open receiver. The old, "Just because you CAN do something within the rules of the game, doesn't make you less of an asshole for actually doing it" doctrine.

Plus, if you're going to do that move, for God's sake finish it. Missing the dunk makes him look like an asshole and a jackass.
