Dylan Larkin gets a hat trick for the Red Wings in a 5-2 victory at Toronto but the real story is this is the first game all four top 10 picks made by Steve Yzerman played
Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond were joined by 2021 No 1 LHD Simon Edvinsson, playing his first road game, and 2022 No 1 C Marco Kasper, making his NHL debut

They're all dreadfully mediocre. Among the wild card contenders, only the Panthers and Flames (both of whom are in ninth place at the moment) are over .500 in their last 10 games.

How does adding the 4th place on each division help? It should be 1-8

The Aud had a scoreboard exactly like that at one time. Classic. The old Buffalo Bisons Pepsi-bottlecap logo from the American Hockey League is on the right.

I agree. Just saying the back of this year's playoff field looks terrible. (Now two wild cards will play for the Cup)

Pretty sure the next Penguins' point eliminates the Caps. What a dreadful season. I can't imagine Lav is going to be back. And unless they can unload Kuznetsov, I can't see a lot of changes next year. Backstrom at $9.2M and Mantha at $5.7M are eating a ton of cap space. Who the hell would want Mantha in a trade after his awful showing since the trade from Detroit? The only UFA worth keeping is Sheary, who is probably in line for a significant raise from his $1.5M salary. Might be a long couple of years in Washington.

Caps won their first Cup in 2018, Blues in 2019. Look where they are now.

I don't know what it is exactly, but Washington has fascinated me since its first season (74-75) winning a mere eight games. Maybe my interest is tied into D.C. joining the NHL at the same time as the Kansas City Scouts (My first exposure to the sport). Thought the Caps and Scouts unis were both cool.

St. Louis? Honestly never thought I'd see the Blues win it all in my lifetime, especially that season.

The Kings won the Cup in 2012 and 2014 then hit a playoff drought, making the postseason just twice between 14 and 22, losing in the first round both times. Last night they clinched a playoff spot in back-to-back seasons for the first time since that second Cup.

Something I have never seen before:
Ducks at Oilers on Saturday. About halfway through, the Ducks are called for icing. Play stops and the players are cruising around heading for the faceoff dot. One of the Oilers slides the puck toward a linesman. It's going past Frank Vatrano, who tips it with his stick and it veers off course. Referee TJ Luxmore calls a delay-of-game penalty on Vatrano. Had no bearing on what happened in the game, soon to be a 6-0 Oilers victory Just a very weird call.

I see what you mean. Last year’s EC wild cards teams had 107 and 100 points. This year, the teams in line for spots are on pace for 93 and 92.
