Our guy Lanto Griffin donated $500 per birdie this week to Youth in Course in Virginia and ended up with 14. Well, 12 birdies and an eagle, so it adds up. He also notched a much needed top 10. Great week.

Also, I’m a Max Homa fan so happy he won.

I can’t. I thought gamblers only sweat when they bet more than they could afford to lose. I doubt he has done that. And I somehow think that his wife, who seems like a very intelligent woman, would somehow make him keep money separate to make sure his kids and their futures are taken care of. I could be way off there, of course.

Rumor has it that Amy hits the tables in Vegas as much as hubby bets the NFL.

It occurred to me last Saturday night that if there was anyone in the world who bet big on Rich Strike in the Derby, it'd be Phil. Wonder if he did.

Now that would be a plot twist. "Mickelson lost $40 million from 2010-14 ... but not the one you think."

If that’s the case, they deserve whatever cardboard box they end up in.

I'm old enough to remember when they blamed Gretzky's gambling on Janet.

They're not set up easy. We just hosted one. It played over 7,000 yards. Hole locations were tough. Medalist score was -5. It wasn't a hit and giggle.

I know, but they don’t grow the rough out and prep the greens for weeks. They play it from the tips, which is maybe 300 more yards than a casual round for a decent player. That’s still a long way from a US Open course.

Pretty sure I didn’t say or imply it’s a hit and giggle. It’s just not that punishing and it’s a weird bet.
