And the milkshakes. And Greg Norman has been unlikeable for years. "We've all made mistakes." WTF

    No wonder Evert dumped him.

Wasn't Greg Norman one of the key people pushing for what became the World Golf Championship series of events?

And maybe this has been answered at length 10 pages ago (I kind of only drop in for the majors), but what is their main beef here? Just too many events and too many ham-and-eggers to have to split the pot with? It can't just be over stuff like Sergio bitching about not getting relief from an obstruction or whatever the hell he was on about two weeks ago.

It’s all about money. Saudis want to throw a lot out now to lure people in, but like anything, it’s to take market share from the competitors, PGA Tour primarily. IF it ever got established, the players won’t find the $$ quite as easy in the future because there won’t be the need to compete with PGA Tour.

PGA Tour doesn’t want a competitor, that would lower interest in its product and dilute its offerings.

Yes, Norman has harbored a grudge against the Tour for about three decades after they "stole" his WGC concept. It would be almost be admirable if he wasn't such a raging egomaniac and full of crap.

Greg Norman, previously unlikable, ascends to 'this fucking guy.'

    Christ on a soda cracker.

Norman's idea was 8-10 events, with the top-30 players only, which would have gutted a lot of non-major, but very viable tournaments.
The eventual WGC concept was four tournaments. The smallest field was the Match Play at 64 players. The others had around 75. Bigger fields, more happy players. Now it's down to two tournaments.
So I've never been sure why Norman feels like the Tour "stole" his concept. His concept was a lot less inclusive and much more damaging to other Tour events.

Oh, and this Norman gem. After he dismissed the killing and dismemberment of a journalist inside the Saudi's Turkish consulate, he was asked about the recent execution of 81 people in the month of March:
“I’m not going to get into politics, I don’t know what the Saudi government does. I don’t want to get into that. Every country has a cross to bear.”

Norman's the face of the franchise, he only cares about blowback if it cuts into his money.

"Not just money, mate. A gigantic pile of money."

Norman is only thinking about himself; he’s doing this because we’re writing his name now, and I’m stopping.
