And I will give CBS no credit for having the replay audio so loud that I could barely hear his answer over fat guys yelling “baba booey.” Frank Chirkinian would have lit the truck on fire.

The telecast has also been pathetically bad over the past few holes in locating tee shots. Pereira winding up in the drink completely escaped them for a while, and there were more.

    That shouldn't happen.

Agreed. As banal as some of Amanda’s questions can sometimes be she was doing a masterful job with Pereira who was clearly shaken. Would have been nice to not have to strain to hear it, but their coverage has been veering into mediocre for a while. We just didn’t notice because we were super focused on how bad Joe Buck was at Fox.

Played those three like a consummate pro, huh. Way to go, JT.

Unreal ending. Disaster on 18. Good for Bones (who hopefully will get paid).

ESPN has the better top-to-bottom golf lineup. It was a little bit of a downer when ESPN signed off for CBS each day.

Amanda was good with Pereira. She's good with winners too. But the oversoaked solemnness yesterday in talking about Tiger's pain was a little much.

CBS has clearly dropped a big notch since it did its big shakeup.

Yeah, Pereira blew up on 18. He also made five bogeys before that. He was leaking oil and was not prepared for the moment. He'll learn from it.

I had a $50 free bet to use on FanDuel, and the second it was Will vs. JT, I couldn't hammer the JT -135 fast enough. Will's putting was incredible on Thursday, but that was a clear outlier. He's a great ball striker but until he actually finds some kind of consistent putting thought, it's going to be rough for him in situations like this. He's young enough and has plenty of time to figure it out.

I wonder if Pereira makes that birdie putt on 17 instead of leaving it short, if a two-shot lead settles his nerves? He almost missed hitting the ball on that last drive -- and yeah, I can't imagine being in that situation -- but as @Cosmo said, he was coming apart like a cheap sweater for much of the round.

He just wanted to make the cut and had used up the emotional and mental tank by the time the tournament really got serious. Hope he gets another chance.
